Another clinical trial is underway in Barbados. The Barbados Cancer Society in conjunction with Yale University and Wren Laboratories are conducting colon cancer trials, managed by Professor David Rosin and Dr. Greg Padmore.
The aim is to discover new and less invasive methods of diagnosing colon cancer earlier and while the response by Barbadians has been overwhelming there’s also been some misinformation.
Cancer Researcher and Barbados Cancer Society Council member Dr. Stephanie Date clarified a number of misconceptions surrounding the trial which has already started and is expected to be life saving for many Barbadians.
At present colon cancer is the 3rd most common cancer in Barbados and worldwide – however it is preventable.
Dr. Date says Barbadians changing their eating habits would result in a decline in our colon cancer numbers.
