Underlying issues still to be addressed

A plaster for sores.

That’s how criminologist Kim Ramsay has described the truce brokered among gangs in Barbados.

She was delivering the feature address at the launch of her book “The Unspoken: A Glimpse of the Dark Side of Gang and Street Culture”.

Ms. Ramsay told the audience while there has been a reduction in gun crime in Barbados, there still remains a number of underlying issues to be addressed.

It was not an easy feat to research and write the book and she gave the audience some background to the initiative.
