Experienced farmers in Barbados will be working alongside young farmers when the Ministry of Agriculture establishes a Crop Production Unit.
Minister Indar Weir expects it to be set up this year as officials work to increase production.
The announcement came as discussion continued on the Agriculture Head during the Estimates Debate.
He expects the partnership will augur well for the agricultural sector.
Chief Executive Officer of the Barbados Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (BADMC) Fredrick Inniss says many experienced farmers are willing to provide the necessary support.
He further revealed several plots of land have been brought back into production through the Farmers’ Empowerment and Enfranchisement Drive (FEED) Programme.
