The drought conditions currently being experienced in Barbados are beginning to hit Barbadians in the pocket especially as they prepare for the dinner table.
A check today with the Chief Executive Officer of the local farmers’ body, the Barbados Agricultural Society, revealed that the farming community is having problems growing root crops and vegetables.
The lack of water has severely affected the production of sweet potatoes and those available are attracting high prices, sometimes as high as six dollars per pound.
