Family, friends and well wishers gathered to reflect and bid farewell to well-known Barbadian educator and former Combermere Principal Charles ‘Charlie’ Pilgrim.
Headmaster Pilgrim earned the respect and adoration of generations of Combermerians for his commitment to excellence and the emphasis he placed on building well rounded students.
Pilgrim began his education journey at the Combermere School as a temporary teacher. He went on to become Deputy Headmaster in 1972, before rising to the post of Headmaster in 1981 until his retirement in 1986.
During the eulogy, son David Pilgrim says his father was fond of the institution and was committed to seeing the potential in each student.
