Barbados could as soon as this year, introduce electronic monitoring and a parole system for people who would otherwise be in jail.
Minister of Home Affairs and Information Wilfred Abrahams made the revelation during the latest One-On-One interview produced by the Public Affairs Department.
He said the Probation Department is working with the Barbados Prison Service to make it a reality.
Minister Abrahams added that the probation system could allow for the early release of eligible prisoners.
