Former Commissioner of Police Grantley Watson passed away on Saturday.
Mr. Watson led the Barbados Police Force from 1995 to 2003 and subsequently went on to head the Regional Security System as its Executive Director.
Paying tribute today was former Attorney General Sir David Simmons, who had high praise for the former commissioner.
He recalled that through a meeting with Mr Watson during a trip to a UN conference in Egypt, they discussed the setting up of a task force on crime prevention, which is now called the Criminal Justice Research Unit.
Sir David sent his condolences to Watson’s family and concluded that the loss will not only be felt in Barbados but across the Caribbean.
