‘Festival of Bands’ a success

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced changes in almost every aspect of life, and it has been no different with Kadooment bands.

Barbadians are accustomed to big costume band launches at this time of the year, followed by packed band houses with scores of people coming for a closer look.

However, there are no individual band houses this year because of the pandemic. The “Festival of Bands” concept was hatched to address this by bringing all the bands together at Ball Park, Christ Church, for one massive fete.

More than 400 patrons came out to see the costumes. And were treated to DJ music and live performances between the band displays.

President of the Barbados Association of Masqueraders, Anthony Layne, said the event helped to build the vibe for Grand Kadooment.

Veteran bandleader Betty West adds that while she had to cut back a little this year, she is still bringing a quality product.
