Police and fire officials are on the scene of a blaze at the Ministry of Health complex on Jemmotts Lane in the City.
According to reports, the Barbados Fire Service responded to the scene around twenty minutes to eleven.
Two water tenders along with close to a dozen officers under the command of Station Officer Roger Bourne were dispatched.
CBC News understands that the blaze has been confined mainly to one structure.
There has been an ordered closure of surrounding roads as well as the evacuation of adjacent businesses downwind of the burning property.
