In an attempt to get the authorities to respond to their concerns regarding the presence of Barbadian fishermen in Tobago’s waters, the All Tobago Fisherfolk Association (ATFA) plans to stage a protest outside the Barbados High Commission in Trinidad.
President of AFTA, Curtis Douglas says there have been repeated incidents where Barbadian fisherfolk have ventured into their fishing grounds, catching the prized flying fish and other fish.
He told the Trinidad press that his members are frustrated as their complaints to the Coast Guard and the Tobago House of Assembly, have not gotten the attention it deserves.
The Association recently announced its intention to deliver a letter to the office of the prime minister demanding that the government intervene.
