Senior health officials are stressing the importance of good food handling practices this Crop Over season.
Chief Medical Officer, Dr. the Most Honourable Kenneth George, says it’s key to avoid outbreaks of food borne illnesses.
Chief Environmental Health Officer, Francina Bascombe, says there haven’t been any foodborne disease outbreaks associated with the Festival in the past, and the Ministry wants to maintain that standard this year.
She says for food handlers, handwashing and personal hygiene, such as covering heads and beards, is key.
Ms. Bascombe also highlighted the importance of proper temperature control.
