Government is currently seeking a space to house the proposed residential protection and treatment facility, to manage children whose needs cannot be met by childcare centres but who are not deserving of being in the justice system.
It is one of two centres to be set up to assist children.
Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs Kirk Humphrey provided the update during yesterday’s sitting of the Joint Select Committee on the Child Justice and Child Protection Bills.
