Barbados has been assured the Ministry of Health and Wellness is addressing the vexing issue of overgrown lots across the island.
Deputy Chief Environmental Officer Ronald Chapman revealed that, to date, some 15 people were brought before the law courts and judgments were received in five of those cases.
One person was charged over a thousand dollars for their overgrown lot.
Several other notices have already been served, including over 63 in the south.
It was further revealed that the Ministry of Health has recommended an amendment to the legislation to make the process easier.
Mr. Chapman addressed concerns regarding mosquito and rat nuisances.
He says programmes that commenced this year were in response to an increase in the number of complaints.
