Fire officials are urging people to be cautious as they attend hikes across the island.
The advice from Acting Sub Officer Kelan McCalla, came during an interview with CBC News.
McCalla was part of a nine-member team of fire officers who recently had the difficult task of recovering a body from a well estimated to be about 300 feet deep.
The members of the team were presented with Certificates of Commendation for their selfless acts of bravery and service.
Auxiliary Fire Officer, Matthew Hackett, who has only been in the service for eight months, and Fire Officer Andre Mapp were the two officers who rappelled into the well.
