The newly appointed President of the Barbados Road Safety Association is appealing for the driver in a reported hit and run to come forward.
The incident involves the daughter of popular entertainer Marzville.
18 year old Akia John-McQuilkin was the passenger in a vehicle travelling along Brighton in St. George when it was involved in a collision with another vehicle.
She had to be extracted from the wreck by fire officials using the jaws of life.
In a social media post, the entertainer said the accident, which occurred on Monday night, has left the teenager hospitalised with neck fractures.
The family is awaiting word on whether she will need to undergo surgery.
Speaking during a press conference this morning, Roland Lowe, called on the driver of the other vehicle, who left the scene, to turn themselves in.
According to an eyewitness, the other vehicle involved in the hit and run was a blue truck.
