Hotel staff may end up on the breadline

April 12, 2024
Workers of Infinity on the Beach may be on the breadline in a matter of weeks.

General Manager of the St. Lawrence Gap, Christ Church-based resort Renee Coppin, told CBC News that workers were informed earlier this week that owners of the property, which is currently being leased, have asked for it to be handed back over to them.

Ms. Coppin says management mutually agreed to adhere to the instructions at the end of June.

She said this decision is also to allow time for what management hopes will be some needed remedial work before it reopens possibly within a matter of months.

However, Ms. Coppin says management of Infinity on the Beach unfortunately do not have full details regarding the owners of the property’s plans.

Infinity on the Beach posted a notice on social media advising guests that effective July 9, 2024, the resort will be handing over the property it leases for its operations to the ownership company Debdor Co. Ltd.

The notice says the resort will not be able to honour bookings past the given date.

Meanwhile, Ms. Coppin says Infinity, which made a strong rebound in 2023 post-COVID, is proud to have been able to operate a highly-rated and successful hotel from the current location.

The General Manager added that management is now focused on ensuring that team members, guests, business partners and other affected parties can transition as smoothly as possible over the coming months.
