Hydrological systems assessments underway

November 2, 2023

A plan is underway to assess the current status of surface and groundwater hydrological systems in Barbados.

The information collected will help the island to formulate and present its own hydroSOS plan.

Principal of the Caribbean Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology Dr. David Farrell,
made the disclosure at a three-day Caribbean Workshop at the Accra Resort.

The HydroSOS aims to provide crucial information to help understand the current status of the world’s freshwater systems and adapt to changes by harnessing new technologies and managing water resources with science-based information.

The head of the Hydrology and Water Resource Services Division, at the World Meteorological Organisation Hwirin Kim, says Barbados is in a good position as the workshop is the platform for the implementation of the Barbados plan.
