Inaction on climate change hurting countries

Barbados’ Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley has warned that doing nothing or not enough on climate change is hurting countries as it knows no borders.

She told fellow leaders attending the ongoing Africa Climate Summit 2023 hosted by the African Union, the world is not moving at the pace nor scope necessary to tackle the environmental decline to secure the planet.

In a virtual address, Ms. Mottley noted the climate crisis has devastating life and death consequences for the poor and vulnerable, who come from countries that have not caused it.

She wants leaders to work to bring about change now.

As she promoted the Bridgetown Initiative, Ms. Mottley said it’s an action plan intended to make the world a better place.
