Inmates ages 16-18 will no longer be sent to Dodds under new Bill

Mixing of young offenders with adults in the criminal justice system could soon be a thing of the past in Barbados.

Through the new Juvenile Justice Bill being worked on, Chairman of the Government Industrial School (GIS) Apostle Dr. Lucille Baird revealed inmates ages 16 to 18 years will no longer be sent to Her Majesty’s Prison at Dodds.

Instead, they will be sent to the GIS facility.
