The Barbados Union of Teachers is awaiting the Education Ministry’s response to recommendations from the Environmental Protection Department over the way forward for Parkinson Memorial School.
Deputy General Secretary Asha Yearwood spoke briefly about Thursday’s tour of the facility after reports of a noxious odour which was highlighted on Wednesday triggering the school’s closure.
She said the Union is waiting on those recommendations but meanwhile, they are in solidarity with their membership.
The Ministry of Education issued a statement last evening to inform parents and guardians that the Parkinson School will remain closed today but classes will continue for teachers and students online.
The Ministry says it will provide further updates as soon as the investigations are completed.
