Member of Parliament for the City of Bridgetown, Corey Lane, says hundreds of Barbadians could find work in the next two years if government discussions with an international agency are successful.
He says with more than 300 requests for employment from constituents, the plan is to engage in an aggressive training programme for people over the next year.
The Member of Parliament was speaking at the Barbados Labour Party’s monthly meeting of the City of Bridgetown branch office.
According to Mr Lane, some of this training will be facilitated through an agency called Startwise.
He also touched on requests for housing and the hesitance of some landlords to rent their properties to people receiving welfare assistance.
