As countries experience a surge in respiratory viral illnesses and the flu, a specialist emergency physician is providing details on when people should seek emergency care.
Dr Makeba Brooks says most people who get the flu or a similar viral illness can manage their symptoms at home.
Common symptoms include fever, chills, muscle pains, headaches, coughing, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose and fatigue.
However, the director at Urgent Care, also wants people to be aware of the signs that it is time to seek medical care.
Dr Brooks says the elderly, very young children and people with chronic diseases are the most vulnerable to such illnesses.
She wants people to be mindful of the types of medication they take to treat symptoms.
