The Barbados Police Service has advised of the following traffic restrictions to facilitate the Sagicor Life Inc. Lighting Ceremony this evening, which is starting at 5:30 p.m. in Heroes Square, Bridgetown: 

1. Partial closure of Trafalgar Street at its junction of Broad Street and High Street from 12:00 noon until 10:00 p.m.

2. Closure of Wharf Road at its junction with Marhill Street from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

3. Vehicular traffic travelling along upper Fairchild Street will not be allowed to turn right onto the Charles Duncan O’Neal Bridge from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Motorists will be allowed to turn left onto Probyn Street.

4. Vehicular traffic travelling along lower Fairchild Street will not be allowed to turn left onto the Charles Duncan O’Neal bridge from 4:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Motorists will be allowed to travel onto upper Fairchild Street or right onto Probyn Street.

The Lighting Ceremony traditionally ushers in annual Independence celebrations in Barbados and is free to the public.

This year it is being held under the theme, Come Celebrate Barbados, and will feature performances from various schools and entertainment groups.
