Major boost for local manufacturers

A major boost for the local manufacturing sector, especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

It comes as the Barbados International Food Science Centre, which has been in operation for less than a year, attains US Food and Drug Administration or FDA certification.

The revelation came from Chief Executive Officer of Export Barbados Mark Hill, as he hosted Indian Ambassador to Barbados Shankar Balachandran and other officials, during a site visit and tour of the Newton, Christ Church-based facility.

Mr. Hill says the FDA certification further enhances the export scope and opportunities for the island’s SMES who use the facilities for their production.

Meanwhile, the Indian Ambassador has been speaking about the significance of the grant assistance his country is providing.

He says it forms part of a wider commitment to CARICOM.
