Barbados will be home to a memorial that will tell the story of the Atlantic Slave Trade.
It will be located at the Newton Enslaved Burial Ground.
Further insight was provided into the project during a press briefing, by American art historian, Dr. Maxwell Anderson, representing the ESAIYO/LMI Consortium Consultant.
The memorial is the first phase of what’s envisaged to be a cultural heritage district and one of many manifestations of the R.O.A.D Project – Reclaiming Our Atlantic Destiny.
Prime Minister, Mia Amor Mottley has described it as one of the most significant projects Barbados will ever undertake since Independence.
