The Barbados Meteorological Services is closely monitoring the progress of a tropical wave located near 43W or about 1765km (1095 miles) east of Barbados at 5:00 pm today, Thursday, August 12th, 2021.
However, it has assured the public there are no watches or warnings in effect for Barbados at this time, and this system is not a depression of tropical storm.
The Met Office says during the afternoon, the structure of the system on satellite imagery has shown some sign of organization, although it lacks a closed circulation at this time.
However, gradual development of this system is possible as it moves generally west-northwest at about 20 mph across the central Atlantic.
Current forecast tracks indicate that this system should pass well north of Barbados late Saturday into early Sunday morning.
