The Barbados Pharmaceutical Society says the changes to the beneficiary fee are very minimal.
President Marlon Ward-Rogers says there has been no change in 13 years and this hike allows for the system to be viable.
He added that most medications remain at the same price but some for noncommunicable diseases may cost more per month.
