Minister of Home Affairs and Information, Wilfred Abrahams has said that Barbados has lost one of its most astute legal minds.
He described the late Ezra Alleyne as a diligent student of the law, constitutional matters and politics, and a proud Combermerian.
Mr. Abrahams said Alleyne who was a former Deputy Speaker and Member of Parliament, 1976 – 1981, successfully brought to bear his legal mind and over 50 years’ experience to the benefit of his clients; noting that one of the most high-profile cases at the time was his defence of train robber Ronald Biggs in the 1981 extradition proceedings.
Mr. Alleyne, he said, served over the years as a trial lawyer, a legal adviser to the Public Utilities Board and as a specialist in international business law. Minister Abrahams has extended sincerest condolences to his family and friends.
