Zazeannah Walker 
Prominent attorney and parliamentarian Ezra Ederson Alleyne has died.
CBC News understands the seventy-eight-year-old passed away just after 5 pm on Sunday, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
His career spanned more than five decades, as he practised criminal, constitutional, corporate, and commercial law with special interest in international and offshore business law and trusts.
His keen interest in international and offshore business law led to his pioneering work in the field in the 1970s and later the writing of the booklet, the Development of Barbados as an International Financial Centre.
Along with his legal work, Mr Alleyne was a part-time lecturer at the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus Law Faculty.
He loved teaching and sharing his knowledge. He saw that as giving back to the next generation of thinkers.
Mr. Alleyne also served as a Parliamentarian, having been elected to the House Assembly in 1976 as part of the Barbados Labour Party’s great combination team led by Tom Adams. He defeated Philip Greaves of the Democratic Labour Party to win the St Michael North-west seat. Between 1976 and 1981 he served as Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly.
He is survived by his wife Tassiea, and children Gayle, Daun, Alistair and Nathan.
