As the Barbados Light and Power Company (BL&P) awaits the start of the hearing to decide if their request for a rate increase is approved, they have been coming under fire for the amount of money paid out in dividends.
It was revealed that the Power Company paid shareholders 25 million dollars in 2021, which raised eyebrows about their financial status.
Director of Customer Solutions at the BL&P Kim Griffith-Tang How, told CBC News the 25 million dollars price tag must be taken into context.
She says it is not a case of the BL&P being greedy.
