The National Assistance Board will be expanding the range of services it offers to elderly Barbadians.
Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Kirk Humphrey, revealed the Board will be hiring new staff to facilitate this.
He was speaking during the launch of Caribbean Home Help’s In-home Concierge service.
Caribbean Home Help has a team of over 60 caregivers who assist people unable to help themselves due to age or sickness.
In addition to music and dance programmes, which were demonstrated during the launch, the agency also helps with grocery and pharmacy pickups, fall risk assessment, and in-home stroke management.
Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Paul Marshall, revealed they also provide a monitoring service that could prevent dementia sufferers from walking away from home.
