No country spared from pandemic

Barbados wants avenues found for the safe return to air and cruise tourism in the region.

Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley told the Organisation of American States (OAS), nations highly dependent on tourism and travel have been feeling the impact with many experiencing double digit declines in their economies.

She notes no country has been spared from the pandemic.

During an address to the Special Session of the Permanent Council of the OAS, she says the pandemic is testing the region’s ability to achieve the sustainable development goals by the 2030 timeline.

Prime Minister Mottley has called for collaboration in the spirit of solidarity as she told leaders global moral leadership is required in the fight.

Prime Minister Mottley advised the OAS to encourage growth in the private sector and include the civil society in decision making.
