Government is considering raising the stipend given to people who foster children.
This disclosure from Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Kirk Humphrey, comes as officials hope to recruit more foster parents.
According to statistics provided by the Child Care Board, there are currently 14 foster families caring for 17 children, ranging from toddlers to teenagers.
Mr. Humphrey was speaking during that press briefing to launch Child Month 2023.
The list of activities for the month include a foster parents seminar, a church service and daily devotions on radio and television.
During the month, Debate on the new Child Justice and Child Protection Bills is expected to begin in Parliament.
Minister Humphrey says among the changes, is the introduction of a new step-down facility from the Government Industrial School.
