Online classes at the Lester Vaughan School continue as it has been difficult to find a space to relocate the school’s population.
This comes after a meeting held with parents by the Deputy Chief Education Officer with responsibility for Schools and the principal discussing having online classes until a physical space was found.
The Ministry of Education looked for facilities such as churches, community centres and unoccupied schools, but the cost of upgrading the facilities identified would have been expensive for two weeks of accommodation.
The decision was made to continue with online classes as teachers and students have become accustomed, and it was the best fit to ensure that teaching and learning continue.
The Ministry has ensured that examination students are not seriously disadvantaged and students will complete their SBAs at the following institutions:
-Daryll Jordan Secondary School
-The St. Michael School
-Christ Church Foundation School
-Combermere School
-Duncan Moore Educational Centre
-Jackman’s Seven-Day Adventist Church.
The Principal has reported that an average of 79% of practicals have been completed.
In addition, the principal has made herself available to respond to any questions, comments or queries by the PTA.
MEVT states the principal has also been at the school daily to provide parents and students with devices and other resources.
The Education Ministry of Education remains committed to the best educational experience for all students and continues to work with stakeholders in the best interest of the nation’s children.
