The Pan American Health Organisation has launched a creative play initiative in Barbados schools.
It is part of activities to mark World Obesity Day.
It aims to address the growing issue of obesity in children through the development of innovative approaches to encourage physical activity in schools.
Through the project, life-sized versions of children’s games, such as snakes and ladders, will be introduced to encourage increased physical activity at school.
The St. Albans and Charles F. Broome Memorial Primary schools have been chosen to pilot the initiative.
Officials say the creative play areas have been well received by both students and teachers.
