Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley has been engaging with leaders on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
On Wednesday, she held a meeting with the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Kamikawa Yoko.
Minister Kamikawa commended Prime Minister Mottley for leading discussions on development finance by launching the Bridgetown Initiative.
She also noted Japan will continue to actively contribute to the discussion on tackling vulnerabilities of Small Island Developing States.
In response, Prime Minister Mottley expressed her strong wish to count on Japan’s role on climate change and development finance.

The Barbadian Leader also met with the President of Kenya, William Ruto.
He agreed with Ms. Mottley to campaign for reforms in risk profiling of developing countries during meetings in New York.
