Barbados has 32 new Justices of the Peace (JPs).
They were sworn in by President of Barbados, Her Excellency The Most Honourable Dame Sandra Mason at State House in St. Michael on Monday.
Individuals from various professions, religions and races, including retirees were given their instruments in two separate ceremonies.
The President encouraged both groups of JPs to recognise that the civic responsibility vested in them was a role for life.
Dame Sandra reminded them that they were providing a free service, and warned them against any attempt to profit financially from their office as JP.
