Project-based learning described as future of education system

April 3, 2024

Chief Education Officer, Dr. Ramona Archer-Bradshaw says project-based learning, currently embraced in primary and secondary schools, represents the future of Barbados’ education system.

Project-based learning is a teaching method in which students learn by actively engaging in real-world and personally meaningful projects.

The skills of some of these students were on show during the finals of the Future Forward Schools’ Innovation Challenge at Solidarity House as they presented homegrown solutions to problems impacting Barbados.

The initiative focused on some of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.

Dr. Archer-Bradshaw in her address says the education system must change to meet the new and dynamic demands of the 21st century.

She hopes students will be exposed to advanced training to enable the further development of their ideas.
