QEH: some appointments will have to be rescheduled

December 15, 2022

People with appointments for x-rays, CT scans and ultrasounds at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s Radiology Department will have to reschedule as a result of the ongoing cyber security attack.

In a statement, Executive Chairman Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland said patients will be notified of their new dates.

Additionally, Ms. Bynoe-Sutherland said the Pharmacy is working to ensure patients remain as covered as possible with their needed medication and the Medical Records Department is working to devise a process to continue outpatient appointments.

According to the release, the Hospital’s IT Department, the Ministry of Industry, Innovation, Science and Technology and private cyber security experts, are continuing efforts to contain the threat and are conducting a comprehensive department by department assessment of the computer systems.

They are reportedly seeking to identify the source of the attack, so the Hospital is better positioned to mitigate similar occurrences.

Ms. Bynoe-Sutherland says a plan has been developed on the way forward.
