In a release, the QEH says the incident is currently under investigation, and a number of areas appear to have been affected.
While the duration of the service disruptions and delays is unknown, the Hospital says its IT Department, in conjunction with MIST and cyber security experts, are currently working on the situation.
The QEH says it is taking all necessary precautions to protect the integrity of its systems and patient privacy, and apologises for any inconvenience.
It assures the public that it will continue to manage emergencies and advises that the Ambulance Service continues to function as normal and the Blood Collecting Centre continues to welcome donations.
