A medical specialist is advising Government to make a radical change to its COVID-19 testing regime.
Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medical Science at the University of the West Indies Dr. Kenneth Connell, wants local health officials to include results from home testing in the daily count of COVID positive cases.
The Consultant Internist at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, says to make this happen, Government should encourage people to test more regularly and send in their results.
He believes there’s a need for this kind of evolution of the testing in Barbados, to paint a truer picture of the prevalence of COVID-19 in the community.
Dr. Connell contends the current PCR testing focus is too expensive to continue across the board.
