The Supervisor of Insolvency says she is seeing an exponential increase in the number of black-owned businesses going before that department.
Speaking during Wednesday’s session of the Estimates, Esther Springer said there is a clear need for a change in culture as it relates to the running of businesses.
She says many business people who come before the department did not know many of the basics like product costing or statutory obligation toward employees, and the COVID-19 pandemic showed up the cracks in an already bad situation.
Ms Springer also wants a change in peoples’ attitude toward a business declaring bankruptcy.
