Cultural relations between Barbados and Japan have been strengthened.
It comes with a donation of 106 books from the Japanese embassy on Japanese culture to the Barbados Museum and Historical Society.
The museum now joins the Barbados Community College and the Sydney Martin Library at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, as the only other beneficiaries of the programme.
Japanese ambassador, Her Excellency Kayoko Fukushima, Ambassador, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Barbados, says Barbados and Japan have fostered relations since 1967, and the Embassy was intensifying efforts to CARICOM friendship year 2024 a success.
Meanwhile, Director of the Barbados Museum and Historical Society, Alissandra Cummins says she’s looking forward to delving into the pages of the new book collection.
The books were presented at the museum, and those in attendance included Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, Kirk Humphrey who recounted his trip to Japan.
The audience was also treated to live demonstrations and discussions of Ikigai and also had the opportunity to browse a bonsai exhibition.
