Support people with disabilities

With the message “disability does not discriminate”, an advocate for people with disabilities has impressed on the need to not only include them, but wants opportunities to be provided for them to grow.

Janeil Odle, an attorney-at-law who lost her sight when she was five years old, says it doesn’t hurt to support people with disabilities.

She shared her story on how she was able to rise above the challenges during the inaugural “This Is My Story” lecture series.

It was hosted by the National Disabilities Unit as part of the activities to mark the Month of the Disabled.

Ms. Odle is encouraging Barbadians to never give up and keep their goal in mind and work towards it.

She says as a child, having friends was important to her socialisation.

She wants Barbadian families to not only open up their hearts, but also their homes to a disabled child.
