Some local creatives have received a major boost in their efforts to get their products into international markets.
This through a tailor-made programme which is a collaboration between Export Barbados and the National Cultural Foundation.
The NCF Accelerate to Export Buyers’ Visit and Symposium was recently held over two days at Hilton Barbados.
The event, which was executed by the NCF’s Business Development Department, gave entrepreneurs in the Home and Accents, Fashion and Accessories, and Beauty, Spa and Wellness sectors access to export markets.
They were given the opportunity to interact with buyers from international companies including Off The Shelf Reps, which works with brands such as Wholefoods.
Business Development Officer at Export Barbados Sheena Thorne says the entity is “laser-focused on export” and in its strategic planning had designed solutions that targeted small and emerging producers, through its Tier 5 Voyager Export Academy Programme.
Participants in the symposium were also reminded of the importance of having their export products certified through Export Barbados, the authority for certifying exports under all trade agreements Barbados has signed.
