Barbados has received another batch of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines from the United States (US) Government.

The gift of 129 600 doses was accepted on Thursday by Minister of State in the Ministry of Health, Dr Sonia Browne; Minister of State in Foreign Trade and Business Development, Sandra Husbands and Chief Medical Officer, The Most Honourable Dr Kenneth George, at the Grantley Adams International Airport.

Public Affairs Officer with the US Embassy of Bridgetown, Larry Socha, speaking on behalf of US Ambassador, Linda Taglialatela, said that nation was “very proud” to work with Barbados in the effort.

In response, Minister Husbands expressed Barbados’ appreciation for the gift from the US, particularly given the state of vaccine availability for developing countries and small island developing states. Her colleague Dr Sonia Browne, expressed similar sentiments.
