Trillions owed for reparations

Barbados and the Caribbean have heard trillions of dollars are owed to nations affected by slavery.

The information is contained in the Report on Reparation for the Transatlantic Chattel Slavery in the Americas and the Caribbean.

The report, launched during a ceremony Thursday, provides for the first time a determination of the reparations due.

There’s high optimism the report on Transatlantic Chattel Slavery will boost the Caribbean reparations case.

Project Initiator and former Honorary President of the American Society of International Law, Judge Patrick Robinson revealed several heads of damages were identified including loss of life, uncompensated labor and mental pain in its assessments for reparations.

He strongly believes reparations should not be in the forms of monies handed over to individuals.
