Barbadian Rasheeme Griffith will be in lane three for tonight’s final of the Men’s 400 metre Hurdles at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Austin, Texas.

Running in lane nine in the semifinals, Griffith, a junior at the University of Tennessee, broke a 25-year-old record last evening when he finished 3rd in 49 seconds flat.

That time, a personal best, erased Victor Houston’s record of 49.21 seconds set back in September 1998.

It was also the second-fastest time in Tennessee’s school history, trailing only David Patrick’s record of 48.44 set in 1982.

Griffith’s biggest rivals in the final, which is set for 10:27 p.m., will be Chris Robinson of Alabama who ran 48.36 seconds and Caleb Dean of Texas Tech with 48.39 seconds.

Live coverage will be on MCTV’s ESPN channel 302.
