Business in many sections of Bridgetown has come to a halt as smoke from the Colonnade Mall continues to affect the area.
While investigations will have to continue, the fire appears to have started from the supermarket in that complex.
15 members of the Barbados Fire Service are on the scene, as traffic on Broad Street has now been restricted for the public’s safety.
Business owners in surrounding areas are being urged not to open at this time, as officials try to get that blaze under control.
