As consumers continue to agitate for cheaper fuel we’re hearing of a major plan that could help them save at the pump.
The University of the West Indies is undertaking a new project that could see vehicles running on fuel made from sargassum seaweed and waste water from rum factories.
The rum and sargassum project is being led by Renewable Energy Lecturer Dr. Legina Henry, and aims to have a quarter of Barbados’ cars running on the green bio fuel by 2030.
This revelation from Principal of the UWI Cave Hill Campus Professor Clive Landis during the signing of a memorandum of understanding with CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank.
